Although there are many trends in the kitchen design industry that are short-lived, one that is likely to be here to stay is the move towards timber work surfaces. There are a range of solid Wood work surfaces. Woods that work well in a variety of kitchen styles include Cherry, Bamboo, Brown Ash, Country Beech, Iroko, Maple, Oak, Walnut and Prime Beech. Most wooden worktop suppliers give their customers a choice of lengths - 2m, 3m and 4m etc, and thicknesses too, typically 28mm, 32mm, 40mm and 60mm. by looking around you can also find different widths usually on the wood selected. Marketing Manager of IDS Rebecca Slinn says Woodgrains reference the past while looking forward - and adding a sumptuous looking woodgrain to a contemporary or traditional kitchen provides that nod to warmth and nostalgia that appeals to many consumers. For environmental protection check the wood is certified with either FSC or PEFC accreditation, the two most respected environmental standards in the industry.
