Consumers are actively looking for ways to make their kitchens more environmentally-friendly, Magnet has said.Alison Coleman, marketing manager at the company, claimed that every purchase for the home now reflects peoples desire to be greener.Commenting on a new range of ECO worktops, Ms Coleman observed that they are partly made from recycled consumer waste such as mirror, porcelain sinks, baths and tiles, and from industrial waste such as ash from power plants and stone scrap from quarries and workshops. She was speaking after a study by Ikea found that consumers are increasingly looking for kitchens that offer green features and the ability to home-grow food. The research suggested that such trends will come to the fore in future kitchen designs.Meanwhile, Michael Holmes, spokesperson for the National Home Improvement Show, recently claimed that the number of injuries sustained from poor home improvements is due to increase as a result of homeowners attempting to save money during the financial downturn.
