Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Fortnightly recycling bin collections are working well, but food waste is still a problem, it has been claimed.Producer of waste organiser systems In-Sink-Erator claimed that the recycling of most products was becoming more and more widespread, but insisted on kitchen food waste requiring different treatment. The company claimed that putting kitchen waste out for recycling meant animals such as rats and foxes would be attracted to its smell, making composting and sink waste disposal units better solutionsOne answer is to compost kitchen food waste, however, not all food is suitable for instance meat, dairy and eggs, said the company, indicating that waste disposal units like its own were necessary for the remaining products.Sitting under the sink, it grinds up all kinds of kitchen food waste, flushing it into the wastewater system for it to be recycled, In-Sink-Erator added.Fortnightly collections for non-biodegradables were earlier this year criticised as too infrequent, with some claiming that all types of waste lying around too long could attract pests and spread disease.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18344286-ADNFCR
