Kitchen sink users warned over bacteria

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Bacteria is widespread across the worlds domestic kitchens, research has suggested.A study sponsored by American disinfectant firm Lysol has found that found that nearly half (46 per cent) of kitchen sinks had more 100,000 bacteria per square centimetre - the level deemed acceptable by environmental scientists. The research took samples from homes across the world, including the UK and the US, reports the Associated Press.Among the findings researchers found traces of E coli and salmonella, which can cause a range of infections in adults and children. The report highlighted the need to keep kitchens clean and sanitised, particularly in and around the sink area and especially if there are children in the household.Given the presence of bacteria found on raw meat suggests that a separate, dedicated sink used exclusively for preparing this kind of food could be of benefit to users.Leading sink manufacturers such as Astracast construct their sinks from cutting-edge modern materials which are durable and easy to clean.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18869332-ADNFCR
