It raises the question of why, every decade since the 1920s, women have added half an inch to their busts, 1 inch to their waists and three quarters of an inch to their hips? In the same time period, the size of the average kitchen has doubled and, in many homes, has become the largest room in the house. The article states that, in the past, meals were prepared in the kitchen and eaten in the dining room. After the kitchen was cleaned and tidied, nobody returned to the kitchen until the next morning. However, modern families have made the kitchen the centre of family activity. The kitchen has become a place where schoolchildren do their homework or where family members talk on the phone, relax or watch television. In fact, statistically, most of us spend most of our time at home in the kitchen. According to the Mail Online, a kitchen island isnt just for food preparation and a place to eat breakfast it has become a place for buffet-style family meals -- and overeating When we live in the kitchen, worktops can get cluttered, leaving less room to prepare healthy snacks. It becomes much easier to grab a bag of crisps. And it stands to reason that if the fridge is always in full view, you will be more likely to remove items to make more snacks. The answer is clearly to spend less time in the kitchen after meals are consumed, unless is a healthy session of washing up at the kitchen sink to burn off a few calories!
