How to get organised in the kitchen

Are you struggling to find enough space in your kitchen? According to many kitchen designers, there is much you can do to become more organised and release the untapped potential of your kitchen, no matter what its size.To create a clutter-free kitchen, you need to think outside the box, as well as every drawer and shelf.Amy Trager, a professional organizer and president of the chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers, says that, before you splash out on storage items, pare it down to things you really need, really use or really love.Otherwise, she adds, you continue to get more stuff and need more places to put it.Once you have got rid of what you do not need or use, architect Sarah Susanka suggests applying one of the principles from her Not So Big House books.Use your prime real estate to store things you use everyday, she says.In other words, everyday items should be kept near at hand but those only used for special occasions can be stored in another room.A small amount of well-planned storage is better than a large amount of poorly designed storage, says Susanka. That huge kitchen island is a good example of storage space that got bigger, bigger, but not better, better, she adds. The designer recommends adding pocket doors to eliminate dead space needed for swinging doors and putting every nook, cranny and corner to good use. Also store items close to where they are needed sink accessories near the kitchen sink, pans near the cooker etc
