Christmas kitchens will see changing traditions

Kitchens will always be busy with mince pies cooking away in the run-up to Christmas, but some Yuletide habits are changing, it has been claimed. Traditions like putting coins in Christmas puddings are on the way out, with only three per cent of people burying pound coins for the occasion and other culinary traditions also receding, claimed a survey from UKTV.Another change in after turkey tastes was witnessed by the survey, with Christmas cake now being overtaken by continental favourites like panetonne and stolen. But even more concerning to traditionalists was an indication that 52 per cent of people planned to microwave at least two dishes this Christmas, meaning that kitchen sinks could be freed of heavy duty washing up.Brian Turner, a television chef backing the survey, said While we may be in danger of losing some of our culinary traditions such as putting a penny in the pudding, there are lots of new rituals such as the champagne breakfast and eating stollen and panettone that we can really embrace.People doing things the traditional way could be in the market for an In-Sink-Erator sink waste disposal unit ideal for grinding up turkey bones and nut shells when the festivities are over.
