33 Percent of Water Wasted in Kitchen

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

The kitchen accounts for between 8-14 percent of the water used in the home, and up to 33percent of this is wasted, according to the Water Companies and WRc. As water costs go up, there exists a huge opportunity to reduce water wastage and save money.Kitchen taps vary tremendously in flow volume, from 2-25 litres per minute, and how you use the tap, how long you leave it running etc all change how much water is used.Older taps that are a hole at the end of the pipe, can be the worst offenders, for water wastage. For a quick and simple fix install an aerator. An aerator reduces water usage by adding air to water, increasing the volume that comes out of the spout for the same amount of water, meaning you turn down the tap to have the original volume flow from the tap. This aerator effect produces a champagne flow from the spout, which is often described as soft and silky on the hands.A much better solution is to install a modern tap with water efficiency built in from the start. Not only does it look better, you also update the look of the kitchen without the hassle of changing doors etc for a much lower price.
