Granite is ideal as a choice for a kitchen worktop because, not only does it easily blend with any kitchen sink and cupboard range, but it is a natural stone which means that no two worktops are ever quite the same. The production of granite takes millions of years. It is formed from hot volcanic lava, which means that it can tolerate high temperatures. Granite is an abundantly available natural stone, extracted throughout the world. Its chemical composition is country dependent. For example, granite from Italy is generally blue and red coloured. This is the rarest type of granite, only found in Italy. The presence of quartz and feldspar within granite are the main source of its robustness and unique colour combinations. This is the reason why every granite stone is unique. Granite also provides a very hygienic option as it does allow the deposition of bacteria and fungus.
