Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

The Caterer Group has put sensible use of sinks and taps at the forefront of its Catey Award for most environmentally friendly hotel.Announcing its shortlist, the group singled out establishments worthy of winning the Green Award thanks to their proven ability to take on environmental challenges like limiting water use and kitchen waste.Big properties like hotels are accordingly big consumers, with energy use spiralling and waste piling up unless measures are taken to limit them the achievement of which is highlighted by nomination for the green Catey Award. One of those shortlisted, Strattons Hotel in Norfolk, was identified as a leader in water management, with the award givers praising its weekly readings of gas water and electricity meters, as well as the installation of water-saving Hippo devices in toilets.Another pioneering hotel, the Cottage Lodge in Hampshire, was claimed to have cut its water usage not only by being frugal with taps but also by harvesting rainwater for the garden making it a strong candidate for the November 13th ceremony. The use of taps is only one element of the kitchen green consciousness that the Caterer awards look to make people aspire to, with sink waste disposal units and home composting recently gaining support in the UK as means of avoiding sending waste to landfill.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18346233-ADNFCR
