The best and worst kitchen gadgets

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

The website consumerreports.org has been testing kitchen gadgets, with some interesting results. The site checked with its Facebook fans to find out what gadgets they actually used regularly and which ones had ended up pushed to the back of kitchen cupboards. Testers liked the Oxo Good Grips garlic press and box grater as well as Oxos magnetic locking can opener. Other winners included the Kyocera ceramic peeler and the Better Blade ZestNest . But three gadgets had judges scratching their heads a little. Top of the list for worst kitchen gadgets was the Joseph 3-in-1 Design Rotary Peeler which offers a straight, serrated, or julienne blade with a twist of the dial. However, holding the 2-inch diameter tool was awkward for people with larger hands and peels collected in the blades. Second was the Chefn GarlicZoom XL with its spinning blades that mince cloves with a few easy rolls. However, testers had difficulty removing all the garlic from the chopping chamber and had to be careful of the blades. KitchenAids Cup Grater also scored poorly, with grating blades that didnt lock onto the base which meant the user had to hold both parts with one hand.
