An interior designer created a stylish, modern kitchen by adding a built-in bar area.In a piece for StarTribune.com, Candice Olson of HGTVs Divine Design programme explained how she turned an outdated, 1980s-style kitchen into a contemporary space.Ms Olson said she had made a number of major additions to the room including a central island with kitchen sink and dishwasher. For the bar, the designer set aside an area along one wall and added a wine cooler, built-in coffeemaker and fridge/freezer column.Elsewhere, Ms Olson replaced the kitchen windows with French doors and laid heated travertine floor tiles. In a blend of modern and traditional touches, she also used cream-colored cabinetry, quartz counters and stainless steel appliances.Lara Sargent, a design writer for the Daily Mail, recently claimed that home interior trends including kitchen designs are following styles seen in the fashion world.ADNFCR-1321-ID-19686769-ADNFCR
