Russians love their kitchens

Leading kitchen product manufacturers including Astracast, InSinkErator and Perrin Roe could soon be releasing Russian ranges of sinks and taps, if they wish to access some of the kitchens most frequent inhabitants.According to Agence France Presse (AFP), a Russian newspaper has found that 52 per cent of Russians spend at least a third of their home life in the kitchen, reinforcing the image of the modern kitchen as the focal point of the home for increasing numbers of families.The Rossiiskaya Gazeta newspaper was said to have published the survey from the Social Opinion centre, which found the kitchen to have transcended the multiple, and at times difficult, periods of Russian history, remaining popular throughout.It was claimed that through the relative austerity of the Soviet period, the kitchen table was especially important acting as a focal point for discussion and home life while creature comforts were at a minimum.Rossiiskaya Gazeta was reported as saying For a section of Russians the kitchen remains the main place for socialising, discussion and relaxation, not only for family members but for house guests.Russian kitchen enthusiasts could find themselves attracted to InSinkErators sink waste disposal units, well adapted to the needs of regular kitchen users and ready to mash up the remains of the goulash or any other food waste.
