NHIC: Low-energy bulbs save 60 each

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

The National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) today announced that over its lifetime - which is at least ten years - each low-energy light bulb will save 60, adding up to serious savings when every bulb in a house is considered.Andrew Leech of the NHIC, however, emphasised that solutions for internal lighting such as timers were not consistently practical, and that turning off unnecessary lighting was still the obvious solution. He also noted that there were several compatibility problems with bulbs in certain fittings, where little of no energy-saving equivalent was available.Mr Leech added There continues to be a major discrepancy between the compatibility of energy-saving light bulbs and the fittings for which they are intended. The Energy Saving Trust recently noted that if every house in the UK was to install one energy-efficient light bulb, one years saving of electricity across the nation could power the Blackpool Illuminations for 900 years.ADNFCR-1177-ID-18719872-ADNFCR
