New country house features green kitchen technology

A newly built country house has combined classic English styling with contemporary ideas including eco-friendly kitchen features.The home in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, which is called Highwood, was built by M A Cherrington in a truly bespoke design.This design comprises some of the latest green technology available including kitchen furniture by Minimal and appliances by Miele. Floors are either Fino limestone or Versailles wood panelling.In addition, the luxury home features two expansive kitchens complete with stylish surfaces in the food preparation and kitchen sink areas. There is also a wine store, underground garage and lift for taking residents and guests between floors.To boost the external appearance of the home and improve the view from the kitchen window, landscape designer Clare Glasspoole was also drafted in to develop the grounds. She used a variety of specimen trees to help the property blend into its natural surroundings.George Clarke, home improvements expert at the Ideal Home Show, recently said that homeowners should try to open up their kitchens to natural light when redesigning the room.
