Most homeowners want traditional kitchen, research shows

When it comes to designing a new kitchen, most consumers opt for a traditional style, according to new research.The National Kitchen and Bath Association teamed up with appliance manufacturer Thermador to question designers on current and upcoming trends.It polled 206 participants on everything from cabinets to countertops to colour.More than half (56.8 per cent) of designers said most customers request a traditional style and added that contemporary and clean design trends are on the rise.Some three-quarters stated that cherry and maple woods were used for cabinets, with stainless steel being utilised in 60.8 per cent of kitchens.Nearly a third (29.7 per cent) reported that custom cabinets are the dream item their clients want.Greater use of colour was cited as an up and coming trend, with homeowners expected to become bolder with their kitchen refits.In other kitchen design news this month, homeowners have been advised to decorate their kitchen to reflect their personality.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18686939-ADNFCR
