Less is more when it comes to kitchen designs, it has been suggested.Simple, pared-down and sleek items such as sink accessories should put function before frills, UKTV stated.And rather than using up space, items such as containers should be able to be stacked high to keep kitchen surfaces clear.Speaking to Nick Knowles for UKTV, Mike Ashton, chairperson of the Kitchen Bathroom Bedroom Specialists Association, said people should not be afraid of sacrificing workspace for tall kitchen cupboards because they can store objects away from the surfaces and provide homeowners with more space.Each household has different needs, so its important to consider your requirements when youre planning the design of your kitchen, Mr Ashton stated.He added that fitted kitchens are ideal for smaller spaces and freestanding kitchens work best for larger areas.Adding ten per cent in floor space to a property can boost the value of a home by five per cent, according to Homebuilding Renovating Magazine.
