The bank holiday weekend could be the perfect time for homeowners to sanitise their kitchen sinks.When it comes to making sure a kitchen is clean, many people overlook the kitchen sink, the Jamestown Sun reported.However, leaving the kitchen sink out of the cleaning schedule could lead to bacterial growth.Food particles can get trapped in the drain and the food waste disposer if the kitchen sink is not cleaned thoroughly enough, the publication said.The kitchen sink drain, disposal and connecting pipe are often overlooked, but they should be sanitised once or twice a week by pouring down the sink a diluted chlorine bleach solution, the newspaper stated.A clean kitchen could also protect a family from food-borne illnesses.Climate Culture recently advised people to use cold water to wash dishes in their kitchen sinks to be more energy efficient.
