Kitchen designs are moving towards warmer colours

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

As economic uncertainty continues, consumers are moving towards the warmer colours in the spectrum for the home, an interior designer has said.Adrienne Chinn, design director at Adrienne Chinn Design, suggested that people are moving away from neutral colours because they need a boost. It always seems to be in times of recession that fashion in colour seems to become more vibrant because people seem to need the lift, she said.Ms Chinn added that warmer colours, like reddish pinks, oranges and warm yellows, work well in the UK climate. The warm, pinky reds, the softer tones of orange, the softer tones of yellow - they work really well in the UK with our light which tends to be quite grey light over here, she noted. Such colours could also be used to brighten up core areas of the kitchen such as in food prep or kitchen sink areas.Ms Chinns advice comes after Pantone named its colour of 2011 as honeysuckle. The company argued that the vibrant reddish pink can lift our spirits in times of stress. ADNFCR-1321-ID-800291019-ADNFCR
