Keep kitchen sinks out of corner

Placing kitchen sinks in the corner of the room can cause a number of problems and it has not been advised by a design expert.Kitchen designer Rita St Clair has suggested that remodelling a kitchen to have the kitchen sink in the corner can bring up space issues and reduce its practicality. She told SILive that the kitchen is the most technologically sophisticated part of the home but that it should still reflect the purpose it is most used for. Therefore, space to use the sink is more important than following any new design trends.Such decisions are usually made for space planning reasons in a small kitchen or to allow for more continuous counter space, she stated.First, a sink sandwiched into a niche corner will seldom be wide enough to accommodate big pots and pans. Furthermore, a sink in the corner also makes it impossible for two people to work side by side while washing fruit or vegetables.Ms St Clair has also observed that kitchen sinks are vital as they are usually the most used equipment in a home.
