How easy is it to install a kitchen sink

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

If you are DIY inclined, there is no reason why you should not install your new kitchen sink yourself, as long as you follow a few ground rules. In addition to your new kitchen sink, you will need sealant, a saw, a pencil (to draw outlines), a ruler, a damp cloth and safety gloves. If you have a new worktop, you will need to cut a hole to place your sink in. Use the cut out dimensions or template to mark out the worktop. Make sure you place the sink bowls above a cupboard space. Once you have successfully cut the hole, cover the edges with a polyurethane sealant or 2 coats of varnish. Carefully lower the sink into the hole and make sure you have an extra pair of helping hands at this point, just in case you need them. Hold your sink using the drain holes. Ensure your sink is fully sealed within the worktop to prevent future leakages. Some sinks come with a sealant bead built into the rim, others you need to apply the sealant before fitting the sink into place. Tighten up the clips or fixings to secure the sink in place. Hey presto!
