Homeowners urged to be green in the kitchen this Christmas

This Christmas there are plenty of greener, more ethical choices that people can make to have a more eco-friendly celebration, Ethical Consumer Magazine has said.Dan Welch co-editor of the publication, argued that this is simply a case of shopping around to find a sustainable option for the traditional Christmas trappings, whether its energy efficient electrical goods, organic cotton clothing or simply buying from a company thats genuinely doing its best. The comments come after environmentalist Jasmine Greene wrote for care2.com recently that people can make a difference in 2011 by recycling water from their kitchen sinks and showers.Mr Welch advised anyone looking to go green this year to spend a little time checking out the options before making a purchase. If people are unsure where to do that research, he suggested going to online resources like the Energy Savings Trust website.Meanwhile, Caroline Spelman, secretary of state for the environment, has thrown her support behind virtual gifts that benefit the UKs natural environment.
