Kitchen owners are adapting their kitchen sink areas to perform a range of functions, from storage to waste disposal. The Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel appealed to its readers to get in touch with news about their unique kitchen features.A common source of pride among the respondents was their unique kitchen sink accessories. For example, reader Trudy Hannam said that after buying a new kitchen tap, she asked her son to drill a hole in the sink for holding a soap dispenser. Now I dont have to bend over several times a day to get soap from under my sink when it is needed. It is absolutely wonderful! she said.Elsewhere, interior designer Kendall Polster replied that he had chosen a deep double sink for his own small kitchen and had accommodated the appliance by building a special sink cabinet. He said that the item had been designed like a piece of furniture on legs, rather than being built to the floor like a traditional kitchen cabinet. This week stylist Leanne Brownoff wrote for the Canwest News Service that designers and homeowners should avoid over-accessorising when renovating a kitchen.
