Glass backsplashes draw the eye to the kitchen sink

The designer of an award-winning kitchen has explained how he used mosaic glass tile backsplashes to create a sense of movement around the kitchen sink area.Mike Stauffer of Excel Interior Concepts Construction won one of the top prizes at the CaesarStones Dream Design Contest with a kitchen design that combined a variety of materials for a dramatic effect.Speaking to Kitchen and Bath Design News, Mr Stauffer said he had added drama to the room by combining reflective upper countertops with black granite lower surfaces. He also installed hand-blown glass pendant lights for added sparkle.For the kitchen sink area Mr Stauffer used mosaic glass backsplashes as a way of playing with the light further.
