Dramatic colours and features will be common in kitchen design during the coming decade, a report has suggested. The Associated Press (AP) spoke to a range of design experts to find out the popular new trends. It found that vivid colours like purple and deep blue would be increasingly adopted for dramatic effects. New, stylish appliances will also be used in kitchen sink areas such as matte black kitchen taps, the AP said. The kitchens not just a room, its an experience, Gayle Butler, editor in chief of Better Homes and Gardens, told the news provider. The report also found that there would be moves to turn the kitchen into a more functional family area. It said this would include seeing more sofas and bench seating around tables for dining as families focus on creating relaxing communal areas in their kitchens.Kitchen designer Johnny Grey recently told the Daily Mail that in homes where there is a shortage of space and where the home is intensively used by a family, people are increasingly abandoning dining rooms in favour of open-plan kitchens.
