Long dismissed as a nation of unambitious TV dinner-eaters, the UK is fast becoming increasingly adventurous in the kitchen, it has been claimed. Research from insurance specialist Esure has shown that celebrity chefs are serving up due inspiration for home cooking, leading people to experiment with complicated gourmet techniques despite claiming little cooking know-how. The group claimed that despite 73 per cent of people considered themselves amateur, novice or even useless chefs, no less than 75 per cent of people would not be averse to emulating the steaming, flambeeing and tenderising exploits of their cooking heroes. Celebrity chef Tony Tobin from BBCs Ready Steady Cook, responded Its great to see that kitchens across the country are becoming hubs of creative cookery - fuelling a passion for food and the growth of the dinner party. However, all celebrity chefs have had years of training and people at home must remember this when attempting to recreate any dishes they see on TV.Encouraging people to avoid doing damage to their kitchen worktops, walls and floors through over-adventurous techniques, esure also advised people to ensure a clear work surface before getting the dinner underway.
