A professional chef used blue as the main colour in his home kitchen in order to promote tranquility and creativity.Scott Cutaneo, an award-winning chef in the US, showed NJ.com around the open-plan room in which impressive blue columns dominate the kitchen. An arched ceiling covered in blue Venetian plaster and blue granite countertops also reinforce the colour theme. In order to create the spacious kitchen, Mr Cutaneo enlisted the help of one of his contractor friends and set about knocking down walls to improve the flow of natural light. To enhance the kitchen functions, Mr Cutaneo also added a central island which features a cooktop and kitchen sink set into a nine-square-foot slab of statutory marble.Commenting on the design, Mr Cutaneo said It needed to be functional for my family because thats where everybody congregates. This week a report by Metro Canada suggested that bold, striking colours will be increasingly adopted in kitchen designs this year.
