BQ is celebrating its 40th anniversary by describing what it believes homes will look like in another 40 years - and kitchens feature many of the most interesting innovations. The company predicts that standard tabletops will be able to be used as computer surfaces, which can be interacted with and used to surf the internet.Additionally, fridges will have displays on the front, which will relay householders with information about products currently being stored, such as when they go out of date.Cookers, kitchen sinks and hobs will be able to be tucked neatly into walls as space saving becomes the order of the day.BQ also believes people will grow their own spices and vegetables, which will be pushed outside to grow and then pulled back in when they need to be used.Rachel Osborne, director of customer insight at BQ said The nuclear family as we know it looks likely to change beyond recognition and our report indicates that in the future we will see exciting new high-tech homes built to suit the familys evolving demands.
