Accent lighting spot on for shiny modern kitchen

Kitchen lighting schemes should be primed to ensure that the room is made warm and welcoming and feels less like an office, experts have claimed. Advising a carefully constructed layered lighting approach involving ambient, task and accent lighting features in combination the Kitchens Bedrooms and Bathrooms magazine (kbbmagazine) claimed that lighting can have a major impact on the appearance of appliances and the overall feel of the kitchen. The publication claimed that spotlights could be a fine addition to a modern kitchen, fulfilling an accent lighting function and inviting shiny granite or glass worktops to successfully reflect their light. Modern kitchens aiming for a bright and shiny approach often feature bold stainless steel sink models such as the Franke Ariane ARX160, capable of reflecting back spotlights and ambient lighting and giving a spacious feel. Terry Ball of manufacturer William Ball told kbbmagazine The importance of lighting is often overlooked in the kitchen, with a selection of recessed downlights in the ceiling and perhaps a few underunit lights usually considered adequate for all needs. However, the modern kitchen is more than just a place to cook. Open-plan living with space for dining and relaxing is transforming the kitchen into a multifunctional room that suits a variety of uses.
