Brits spending more time in the kitchen

Brits now spend more time in their kitchens than the French, according to a new study.Research by the BBCs Olive Magazine and French publication Madame Figaro highlighted that 50 per cent of people living in the UK spend more than half an hour cooking every evening, compared to 27 per cent of their neighbours across the Channel.It was also revealed that the types of cuisine people cook is becoming increasingly adventurous, with 72 per cent dishing up Italian food, 45 per cent serving Indian and 31 per cent sampling Chinese dishes.Commenting on the findings, the magazines editor Christine Hayes said Its fascinating how Brits have embraced home cooking and international cuisine in the past few years.However, the French remain more confident in their cooking skills, scoring their culinary know-how six out of ten while Brits rated themselves at 5.6 out of ten.As Brits spend more time in their kitchens, they may wish to invest in the space and make it more attractive with items such as a stainless steel sink and hot water dispenser.
