Minimalist kitchens growng trend

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

With the trend for simplifying life growing this is being applied increasing to kitchens as well. With flowing lines and little clutter, a minimalist kitchen gives you space and beauty and can be applied to kitchens large and small. To help you achieve the minimalist look, here are some tips ...
  • Use a single colour for all the units with a similar colour for the worktops too.
  • Dont have fussy styling, the cabinets should have smooth fronts and side with hidden handles. Push to open drawers and cupboards make them easy to use while keeping the clean look.
  • If possible have floating cabinets top and botton with space underneath to give the impression of airiness.
  • Curves add grace and remove the sharpness of the cabinets allowing them to flow round the room.
  • Use a simple colour scheme with one to two colours, matching the cabinets to the walls etc
  • When choosing appliances, contrasts work well e.g. black with white. Again keep the clean lines where possible, touch controls make this easier to do.
  • There are several designs of kitchen sink that have low profiles and are unobstrusive. Alternatively look at undermount bowls to smooth the sinks into the works surface.
  • Likewise, keep the tap simple with plain lines.
  • Keep the lighting in the kitchen bright, and use under cabinet and plinth lighting for extra effect.
