Sinks Sinks Blog

Claire has been working for Brass & Traditional Sinks for several years now, and she really is, a sink expert.  Claire has an in-depth knowledge of sinks, taps, and sinks accessories.

Claire is our resident copper sink guru, and loves our range of copper sinks so much that she actually has two of them fitted in her own property.

If you’re looking for the perfect sink and tap for your home, call Claire today for expert sink and tap advice.

One of the most popular types of sinks we sell is a farmhouse ceramic sink, double bowl being generally more popular than a single bowl.

Double bowls give you more options. You can use one sink to drain, rinse, store and soak while you use the other bowl to wash dishes.

It's only until you have a double bowl sink that you'll wonder what you've been doing putting up with a single bowl for so long!

Let's face it - plugs are so last season.

What every desirable sink has now is something like our 90mm satin chrome kitchen sink basket strainer waste - see below. These basket strainers suit pretty much every type of sink (although I'd avoid using the chrome ones on our copper sinks - bit of a clash...). Most of our customers match them with our ceramickitchen sinks, and choose chrome taps to match to give a really nice, clean look to one of the most important parts of your kitchen!

Luxury kitchen sinks are an overlooked feature of a kitchen. How many times have you walked in to a house, and seen the washing area covered in old cloths, dirty pots and an old soiled sink? With the benefit of a good looking, well made sink - you bring a whole new look to your kitchen. It becomes the heart of the home and something you should show off. Just remember to keep it clean!

The Subway sink is a Villeroy and Boch designed sink. White pearl ceramic has been used to create a distinct one-off sink which lends itself to any style of kitchen - modern or classic. The exclusive waste and plumbing kit is also available, but sold separately.

This sink is a really popular choice - just because it looks so good when installed. You also have a choice of taps to go with it - the sinks.co.uk staff will be able to recommend a few sets that will match up perfectly.

A hardwood sink drainer look brilliant with a ceramic sink - the tan of the wood, and the whiteness of the porcelain making excellent bedfellows.

The drainers last years and are specially sealed and varnished to make constant contact with water and detergents not a problem for the hardwood.

Plus hardwood is a good sound insulator, so you don't have the loud crashes  when you put glasses and plates down to dry!

Fireclay sinks are in a lot of kitchens. Their popularity stemming from the fact that they combine good looks with durability.

Here's a fireclay sink in its basic form - surround it with nice tile or stone surfaces and accessorise it with some beautiful taps (another one of our specialities!) and you've got yourself a stunning sink that will catch the eye of all your houseguests!

A brass basket strainer looks great against the backdrop of a white ceramic sink, like a Belfast or butler sink. These drainers not only look good, they are also built to last. Just give them a quick polish every now and again, to get the gleam back. After all, teabags and vegetable peelings are bound to dull them after a period of time.

A stainless steel sink drainer is the ultimate in no-fuss kitchen applicances. They are easy to clean, hygienic, none-rust and durable.

Most of these drainers come as part of the sink, in this case (see below) our popular Dove 100 stainless steel sink.

Great for domestic and commercial kitchens!
